IT Organizations

TCITA  The Texas County IT Association is a resource for County IT professional’s to share knowledge, information, and best practices. TCITA will also help assist IT personnel in providing the best quality service to local government entities.

NACITE The National Association of County Information Technology Executives is the premier resource for County Government-related technology support and network for information technology (IT) leaders, including chief information officers (CIOs), geospatial information officers (GIOs) and other senior IT executives.

NARC   The National Association of Regional Councils is the preeminent alliance for fostering regional cooperation and building regional communities.

PTI  The Public Technologies Institute was created by and for city and county governments, PTI is a national non-profit institute focusing on technology issues and opportunities impacting cities and counties. Through its network of technology thought leaders PTI provides a platform for collaboration and innovation for governments, academia and the private sector. PTI and its members promote technology solutions and practices that improve government performance and service to the citizen.

TAGITM  Texas Association of Governmental Information Technology Managers. This is a not-for-profit organization that provides information systems professionals a forum for generating ideas, sharing problems, and developing solutions. Its purpose is to enable the cities, counties, and appraisal districts within Texas to realize the full potential of automation benefits.

TARC The Texas Association of Regional Councils. The statewide association assists the regional councils in strengthening their capabilities to serve their local government members; provides a forum for the regular exchange of information and ideas; educates other governmental entities, public and private organizations, and the general public about the services and functions of regional councils; and represents the councils before both state and federal agencies and legislative bodies.

TASSCC, Inc.  a Texas Association of State Systems for Computing and Communications, is a non-profit organization committed to advance and advocate excellence in the application of information technology to improve the provision of public service in the state of Texas.

TCJIUG  Texas Criminal Justice Information Users Group. A statewide organization of law enforcement, communications and information systems personnel working to improve the criminal justice system throughout the state, to improve working realtionships and to promote the education of its membership.

TIJIS   Texas Integrated Justice Information Systems.  TIJIS is a statewide advisory group organized to focus on cooperation regarding information system standards among justice, public safety and homeland security agencies throughout Texas.

PESO  The Public Electronic Services On-the-Internet Working Group was established to provide a forum for addressing policy and technology issues related to improving access to government information and services via the Internet/Intranet or Extranet. Membership is open to all government entities and TASSCC members. They have a great listserve!

RTC  The Rural Telecommunications Congress is a national membership organization that aims to become the primary organization for rural communities and rural residents in the United States of America to access the information and support they need to obtain and use advanced telecommunications services, particularly broadband digital communications, for community and economic development.

TCRC  The Telecommunity Resource Center. A non-profit program created to advocate and help develop benefits of Internet technology for Texas communities, especially those communities in rural or underserved areas.

The 21st Century Project  The 21st Century Project is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research and education program on science and technology policy, with a particular emphasis on the Internet, information policy, telecommunications, and the social and political trends tied to emerging new technologies.

The Center for Digital Government  is a national research and advisory institute providing government and industry leaders with decision support, research and education services to help them effectively incorporate new technologies in the 21st century.

IEEE  The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. preserves, researches and promotes the history of information and electrical technologies.
